Our Story
Chateau Wine Market & Bodega Bar was a concept that started as an idea when I turned 20 years old. Already 8 years of working in the family restaurants, wine was new, interesting and becoming a vital part of the Restaurant industry (1997). As such, I took more and more of a roll in the expansion of my families wine programs. After several years of Sales for a large software company, managing the family business and 90+ hour work weeks, it was time to look for my first business adventure. So plan after plan was written until I stumbled onto the core base of our business. I thought wouldn't it be great to go somewhere exciting, learn about wine and not feel intimidated by markups. This was the birth of Chateau Wine Market, a retail version of our concept that was established in 2002 after long battles with landlords and banks to let a 24 year old bring this concept to reality. While the Travis street location was a happening area, it was realized that Late Night Entertainment was the focal point of Travis Walk. I headed to Europe in March of 2003, looking for inspiration of transforming our showroom into a real treasure. I visited mulitple wineries and wine bars throughout France, and came back with a vision of what would become Bodega Bar. Negotiations for Lease extensions and usuage of the space began with the landlord and finally construction began in August of 2003. A few weeks after construction began, GC problems began to arise and then Webdesigner, Marketing Plan Creator, Wine Educator, Floor Manager, Wine Buyer turned to Bodega Bar builder and in 3 months Bodega Bar was built by 4 Hands. Bodega Bar was built with a rustic old world winery feel and the comfort of a living room atmosphere. With the elegance of a 5 star atmosphere and the comfort and casual side of a lounge, it should be the standard people in Dallas should expect from their wine bar experience. Bodega Bar attracts hundreds of visitors a week and yet still maintains a low key wine bar feel. Next time you are in the area or looking to have a great glass of wine come see us. Chances are you will see me there enjoying the fruits of our labor. Cheers, Amier Taherzadeh |
